23-3-2026   Running Holiday in the Algarve

A fabulous time was had by all, on our Algarve training camp in conjunction with 2:09 Events, last week.

This was our annual stay at the Victoria Sports and Beach Hotel, in Falesia.

As usual, the coaching team consisted of Mike Gratton (winner of London Marathon 1983), Mara Yamauchi (Britain’s all-time 3rd fastest female marathoner) and RunBrighton’s Mike Bannister.

We had a run each morning at 8am, and each afternoon at 4pm, be that past the local Honey Farm, alongside the orange groves, over the clifftop, along the goat track, or on Falesia’s beautiful sandy beach.

At 3pm each afternoon, we had sessions on strength & conditioning; yoga; muscle activation; foot drills; running technique; and more…

And there was a seminar each evening, on such subjects as nutrition, race preparation, and marginal gains for improved race performance.

Our next trip there will be in March 2027 – dates tbc.
